A FORMER Harlech teacher has been struck off the teaching register after pretending to be a 13-year-old girl and claimed that she had been ‘inappropriately touched’ by the headmaster.

Eleri Wyn Edwards, 32, who taught under the name Eleri Roberts, made the false allegation of sexual assault against Tudur Williams, the head of Ysgol Ardudwy, Harlech.

Having been sacked from her post as a maths teacher at Ysgol Ardudwy, Ms Edwards was working at Ysgol Uwchradd Llanidloes in Powys at the time of the incident.

A disciplinary hearing was told on Tuesday, 29 September, that it was a false allegation.

Edwards, who was dismissed from her post at Ysgol Ardudwy in 2012, was given a formal caution for making the malicious call against Mr Williams, and following a further hearing carried out by the Education Workforce Council (EWC) on Friday, 27 November she was found guilty of unprofessional conduct and was barred from teaching.

She will be unable to re-apply for another two years.

Speaking out following the ordeal, Mr Williams said: “She obviously decided to try to take her revenge on me personally (following her dismissal from Ysgol Ardudwy in 2012).

“What she did was inexcusable and could have had a devastating effect on me personally and my career.

“I am grateful to North Wales Police who investigated the matter thoroughly and were able to bring her to justice.

“It is also very regrettable that she involved and misused Childline, a charity which exists to help real children who have been victims of abuse and other problems.”
