A CADET from Tywyn has been appointed to the prestigious position of Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2021.

Cadet corporal Elise Faragher was appointed by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd, Edmund Bailey Esq.

Lord Lieutenant Cadets are selected for their outstanding extra-curricular achievements and can be called upon to accompany Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant at official engagements.

This includes playing an active role at ceremonial events, such as royal visits and remembrance services held in Gwynedd.

A spokesperson for Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force said: “Elise is one of Minden Company’s senior cadets whose skills and self-confidence have grown immeasurably since she joined Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force in January 2018.

“Elise is an enthusiastic role model for junior cadets who attends regularly and takes every training opportunity that is open to her.

“Cadet corporal Faragher is always smart, well presented, and displays great self-discipline that exudes a positive demeanour.

“During lockdown, cadet corporal Faragher has actively progressed her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, completing all sections apart from the expedition phase as this is currently not running.

“She has learned British Sign Language as her skill and has been awarded a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Certificate of Achievement for 2020.

“Elise has also produced and delivered virtual training sessions for other cadets in her detachment during the lockdown, thus ensuring that they remain engaged and connected despite the absence of face-to-face training.

“She is a credit to the Army Cadet Force.”

Louise Hughes, who is Elise’s detachment commander said: “I’m incredibly proud of cadet corporal Elise Faragher for being awarded Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, she really deserves it.

“Elise always sets a fantastic example to the younger cadets with her positive attitude, enthusiasm and immaculate turnout in uniform. Well done, young lady!”
