A SPECIAL evening to celebrate what would have been George Harrison’s 75th birthday was held at Portmeirion over the weekend.

On Sunday, people from all over the world descended on Portmeirion to mark The Beatles star’s birthday.

Freda Kelly, who was The Beatles and Brian Epstein’s secretary, presented Meurig Jones, location manager at Portmeirion with a copy of the DVD of her life with The Beatles (left).

As a part of the commemorations, the film was shown to a sell-out audience who had come to celebrate the fact that George celebrated his 50th in the village in 1993.

A questions and answers session followed as Beatles fans from around the world descended on the Italiannate village to ask her questions about the day to day workings of the Fab Four.

After they split, Freda then ran The Beatles Fan Club until 1972.
