ABERYSTWYTH actor Taron Egerton has been announced as an ambassador of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Taron, who starred alongside Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson in Kingsman: The Secret Service, was recognised as a supporter of the charity last month.
Having lost his grandmother to MND in 2003, Taron, 25, held a fund-raising screening of the film in Aberystwyth earlier this year to support the south-west Wales branch of the charity.
Film stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne were also announced as patrons of the association.
Taron said: “I’ve been lucky enough to have had some amazing success with my first film Kingsman: The Secret Service and if some of that success means I can help raise awareness of motor neurone disease, then I will do all I can to help.
“My gran was a formidable woman and to have her taken from us so quickly by MND was an awful shock for my family."
