THREE Aberystwyth firefighters were selected to play for Wales as defending champions in the fire service Four Nations golf tournament in Lancaster last week.
Watch managers Mathew Roberts and Jamie Rees were joined by firefighter Charlie Taylor in helping make up the 10-strong Welsh contingent at Lancaster Golf Club on Wednesday and Thursday.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Golf Society, which had a total of seven firefighters represented at the Fire Sport UK Golf Four Nations tournament, meet every month for a fixture which is held at a course from across the service area.
Before the players set off to Lancaster, they were presented with playing polo shirts by sponsors, the Conrah Hotel.
Mr Roberts, MAWWFRS golf secretary, said: “We as a society and a service are extremely grateful and thankful to Geraint and Wendy Hughes of the Conrah Hotel, and to WRW Construction, for their kind sponsorship this season.”
