FLOOD alerts are in place across Dwyfor and Meirionnydd.

Natural Resources Wales has warned locals that they are at risk of flooding, especially for residents living near the Mawddwch or Dwyryd estuaries.

The ‘yellow alert’ is put in place to forewarn those at risk that flooding is a possibility.

Torrential rain over the weekend ensured that many of the river systems in North West Wales are carrying huge volumes of water which may lead to localised surface flooding.

However, a spokesperson for Natural Resources Wales suggests that there is no need to panic.

“We are not expecting any flooding to occur in the very near future but we want people to be aware that river levels are higher than usual,” the spokesperson stated.

“We urge people to keep checking our website and read all the relevant safety advice.”
