PUPILS at three Dwyfor schools have been exploring taste through food, art and poetry in the run to the first ever food slam in Criccieth next month.

Pupils from Ysgol Treferthyr, Ysgol Llanystumdwy and Ysgol Tremadog have taken part in workshops run by chefs, artists and poets. As well as tasting different dishes made from local ingredients, they have been creating food-themed artwork and poems.

The project, supported by Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd’s Community Investment Fund and Ty Newydd/Llenyddiaeth Cymru, will culminate in a schools’ poetry stomp at the brand new food slam event.

The Gwynedd and Anglesey Food Slam takes place on the Esplanade during Criccieth Festival on 19 June. Held between 12pm and 10pm, the event will include street food and food and drink stalls from Gwynedd and Anglesey producers, as well as poetry, art, theatre, street performers, crafts and children’s activities.
