TIMEWATCH reader Hugh Roberts, from Barmouth, appealed to readers to identify the pupils in this picture.
Mr Roberts knew the picture was of Bontddu Primary School in 1960 and was able to name a few people in the picture, but hoped to hear from people who could name more.
Edith Griffith from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire believes she can name them all.
“A friend recently sent me the photograph of staff and pupils at Bontddu in 1960,” she said.
“I believe I can still name all the pupils. They all lived in the village or in surrounding farms from the valley above Bontddu village called Cwmhirgwm (where the Clogau Gold Mine is), with the Rushton sisters and Michael Kay traveling from Garddynys (near Farchynys) and Glandwr to the west and the Cwmynach family from Cwmynach at the top of the valley in Taicynhaeaf to the east.”
According to Edith, the people in the back row from left are: Mrs Day, Michael Kay (Glandwr) and Edith Rogers (Caegoronwy).
On the third Row from left are: Meirion Jones and Gwynfor Jones (Cwmynach), Evan Rogers (Caegoronwy), David Williams (village), Reyna Rushton (Garddynys), Eluned Roberts (Caehir) and Mr Iorweth Williams
On the second row from left, are: Bob Edwards (village) (kneeling), Olwen Williams (Llechfraith), Hilda Jones (Cwmynach), Emyr, Eryl and Alun Owen (Ardwyn – village), Rhiannon Williams (Halfway Cottage – village), Megan Rushton (Garddynys) and, kneeling, Kenny Roberts (village)
On the first row from left are: Andrew, Helen, Raymond and Christine Roberts (village), Steven Hutchinson (Halfway House – village), Jessie Edwards (village) and Geraint Jones (Cwmynach).
