ON 20 June, Fred Davies celebrated a very special birthday – his 101st – when he enjoyed a quiet celebration at Maesywennol day centre.

There were also congratulations at Bodlondeb, where he lives nearby, and special celebrations with family members later in the town.

Alan Deakin, chairman of Only Legs Aloud, of which Fred is a member, said: “Llanidloes Only Legs Aloud Club, nurses, committee, volunteers and members all wish to pass their very best wishes to fellow patient and member Fred on his 101st birthday. Have a very good one Fred, along with wishes for many more and we look forward to seeing you at Y Fan next Thursday morning as usual.”
