CEREDIGION Girl Guides held a special service at St Peter’s Church, Lampeter, to mark World Thinking Day, where it was expected that 10 million members would celebrate and take part.

Brownies, Guides and Senior Section standard bearers from various areas of the county, including Penrhyncoch, Aberystwyth, Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan, attended the service on Sunday, 25 February.

During the service, Guide leader Alicia Walton of New Quay was presented with the Queen’s Guide Award by Jayne Hancock, county commissioner.

Alicia has already won the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award for her work.

Following the service at the church all were invited to tea and cakes.

A special cake in the shape of a Guide was cut to say thank you and in recognition of the hard work undertaken by Anthea Lister who is retiring from the post of district commissioner for the Aeron district.
