The Llyn and Eifionydd Junior League was awarded the prize for the Junior League of the Year for 2018 before the recent Wales versus Denmark game in Cardiff.

The awards are held annually to recognise those who dedicate their time, effort and hard work into grassroots football throughout Wales.

Darren Vaughan and Glyn Roberts, of Dolgellau AFC, represented the league and were presented with the award by ex-Wales international Danny Gabbidon at the event which was hosted by Owain Tudur-Jones and which also included presentations by Ian Rush and Jayne Ludlow to the other nine national winners.

Darren said: “The award is a recognition for the hard work put in by the small and dedicated committee to ensure that football is provided for 700 children in Llyn and Eifionydd area.

“The league now has 11 clubs which between them have over 50 teams across six age groups.

“Our ambition is to increase the number of boys and girls playing and to support our clubs in terms of recruiting more coaches and encouraging them to progress through the Coach Education Pathway.”
