OVER 20 harpists will congregate at Llanengan Church later this month to celebrate Christmas in style.

The harpists will perform a varied programme of Christmas music on Sunday, 20 December.

The event is organised by the Harp Committee of the Gwyl Cerdd Dant 2016, held in Pwllheli.

Llanengan Church will be welcoming Gwynedd and Môn Harp Choir, consisting of 15 harps, who will perform seasonal music under the baton of their teacher Alwena Roberts, Pwllheli.

Harpist Elfair Grug will be performing a variety of works. She has just returned from her work as a harpist and teacher at the Tamnak Pranthom Harp School, Bangkok to spend Christmas with her family in Mynytho.

She will be joined by her sister Rhiain Awel, a post graduate student at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff.

They will perform as a duet known as Dwyres.

Gwenan Gibbard, Pwllheli, will sing accompanied by the harp and a mother and daughter, Catrin Morris Jones and Carys Hind from Pwllheli will be performing as soloists and duet.

Festival chairman, Ken Hughes, will give a word of welcome and guest chairman is Cllr John Brynmor Hughes, The Sun, Llanengan.

Mulled wine and mince pies will be served during the interval and there will be an opportunity for everyone to sing carols to the sound of the harps.
