Six Covid-related deaths in Wales have been recorded today, along with 588 new cases.

Public Health Wales released the figures this lunchtime, stating they cover a six-day period.

The figures also show Ceredigion has 10 new confirmed cases of coronavirus.

In Powys there are 22 new cases, Pembrokeshire has 13, Carmarthenshire, 15 and Gwynedd, 18.

Today’s deaths take the total number of people who have died in Wales with Covid since the start of the pandemic to 5,603.

Public Health Wales said: "Data reported today covers a six-day period from 20 July to 26 July."

The new figures mean there have been 2,137 confirmed cases in Ceredigion since the start of the pandemic.

Pembrokeshire’s total stands at 4,092, Powys at 5,223 and Carmarthenshire at 11,662.

Gwynedd has a total of 4,238 cases.

A total of 239,295 cases have been reported in Wales since records began.

Across Wales, 2,291,418 have received a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 2,023,733 are fully vaccinated.
