Covid-19 restrictions led to the cancellation of a carol service with a twist yesterday.

Criccieth Family Church had hoped to bring some festive cheer to the town with a drive-in event, but new restrictions forced organisers to cancel Carols by the Sea.

The church had received permission for the service from Gwynedd Council, and it had been due to take place on Sunday (20 December) at 4pm on the Morannedd and Esplanade Car Parks, Criccieth.

But all was not lost, and the event – like so many this year – moved online.

“As we still hope to bring some cheer and light to these dark days, we are moving the carol service online,” organisers said.

The bilingual mixture of traditional carols and the Nativity story in Welsh and English was broadcast live on Zoom.
