A SERVICE to help young carers in Ceredigion has been re-launched.

The Young Carers Service provides practical and emotional support to ensure young carers enjoy and achieve just like their peers.

The service supports 62 young people throughout Ceredigion who provide unpaid care to a member of their family.

The new provider, charity Action for Children, will be working closely with Ceredigion County Council to support young carers.

Action for Children staff work closely with schools, social services and GPs to identify those young people in need of help and support.

Emotional and practical support is offered to help young people come to terms with a parent or guardian’s illness, and to also help a young person build positive relationships outside their family, helping to reduce the level of responsibility.

If you know of a young person who cares for a parent or guardian, and who might need emotional or practical support, get in touch with Nicola Crossman on 07545 701336 or visit their website for more information.
