VOLUNTEERS could help to provide a trolley service to Bronglais Hospital wards as part of a deal between Hywel Dda Health Board and the Royal Voluntary Service.
The RVS has run a range of services in Hywel Dda hospitals for years, particularly in Withybush and Glangwili hospitals.
Now the health board has said it is looking at how it could utilise volunteers in Bronglais Hospital.
While it will first concentrate on establishing services at Withybush and Glangwili, Peter Llewellyn, the assistant director of strategic partnerships, said there were proposals that could see services provided on Bronglais wards as well.
The changes come as the health board undergoes a major shake-up of shops and cafes in hospitals. The RVS has run services in hospitals for several years, but they will now be taken over by private providers following a tender process.
Bernardine Rees, the chair of the health board, thanked the RVS for their work and said the board was keen to continue working with the RVS.
