Hell hath no fury like a nationalist who perceives a slight to one of his folk-heroes, as Quentin Deakin found out to his cost. Although mildly iconoclastic to some, I fail to see how the content of Mr Deacon’s letter could have caused toys to be thrown from the pram with such considerable force.
