The Salvation Army has launched its annual Christmas Appeal in Aberystwyth and is asking for donations.

The appeal aims to help less fortunate people over the festive season, and they are appealing for people to donate food, finance for heating and lighting and a listening ear.

The Salvation Army operates from a building on Alexandra Road and a shop on Terrace Road.

For many people the Christmas season is about food, laughter, presents, family, parties and sharing however, for others the season means very different things - hardship, loneliness, hunger, sadness and desperation.

This year, as in previous years, The Salvation Army in Aberystwyth is working with various agencies and individuals to ensure that gifts for all who are in need are sought and given, along with food parcels for the families and elderly in our community who need the most help.

Captain Claire Durrant, one of the ministers at The Salvation Army, said: “We say it every year but it is true we simply couldn’t do what we do without the very generous public of Aberystwyth and surrounding areas.

“We are asking you, once again, to assist us bring some happiness and change lives this Christmas."

If you would like to donate to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal 2019 you can drop into their church building in Alexandra Road, their Charity Shop in Terrace Road or The Well in Baker Street.
