Madam,

I read with interest your article ‘Plans for trolley service manned by volunteers’ (Cambrian News, 31 March) where Peter Llewellyn, assistant director of strategic partnerships for Hywel Dda Health Board proudly presents his proposals to concentrate on establishing volunteer trolley services in Glangwili and Withybush hospitals and as an afterthought goes on to say that proposals “could see services provided on Bronglais wards as well.

Perhaps I should remind Peter Llewellyn and Bernadine Rees, chair of the health board, who incidentally used to work at Bronglais Hospital, that a dedicated band of WRVS (now RVS) volunteers have been providing both sweet and newspaper trolley services for the benefit of patients at Bronglais for the past 20 years or more. As a matter of fact my wife and I have been newspaper trolley volunteers for a least two mornings a month for the past 15 years.Come on Hywel Dda Health Board at least show a little bit of interest in Bronglais Hospital.

Yours etc
