Madam,
This morning, 3 January, my wife and two other elderly ladies waited nearly 20 minutes for the No 38 bus until someone told them it wasn’t running. As all three needed to collect medication from the chemist in Barmouth I took them in by car.
When I got back, I phoned up the council to be told that we would only have a very limited number of busses on school days only. They didn’t have the money for any more.
Apparently the traffic commissioner has the power to revoke Express Motors licence without the need to see that an adequate service is put in its place. Though it is too late for us that needs looking into.
So until a new company can get a licence the people of Llanbedr, and I suspect many other small villages, will find it difficult to get anywhere, which for many elderly people will cause great inconvenience if not hardship.
Yours etc,
Keith Barber, Llanbedr.
