St Padarn’s
AT LUNCHTIME on Tuesday, 8 December, organist and choirmaster Darryl Walters gave another recital on the organ which was very much enjoyed by his audience. Music by a range of composers was played ranging from J S Bach to Cesar Franck. Of particular note was the second piece – the Adagio from the Oboe Concerto No 9 by Albinoni, which he had played welcoming his wife Jacqueline to their wedding. Service over Christmas include: next Sunday, 20 December: 8am, Holy Communion using the 1984 red book setting; 10am, Gwasanaeth Darlleniadau a Charolau, and this special service will be followed at 11.15am by the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which will be led by the church choir, conducted by Darryl Walters. In addition to many favourite carols, the choir will be singing several carols which will be new to the Llanbadarn Congregation. On Christmas Eve at 3pm, there will be a bilingual family service of carols followed at 11.30pm by a sung bilingual First Communion of Christmas—Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day, Holy communion will be celebrated using the 1984 red book setting and there will be a further bilingual service of Holy Communion at 10.30am. All are warmly welcome.This Thursday evening at 7.30pm, the acoustics of the church will be put to good effect with the Penglais School Christmas Concert and on Friday morning, the school will also be holding its carol services.
