A TREGARON lollipop lady has scooped an award for her 25 years of service in Tregaron.

At an awards night held at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod, the 2017 National Road Safety Wales Award was presented to Avril Davies.

Mrs Davies has been a lollipop lady at Ysgol Henry Richard (and formerly Ysgol Gynradd Tregaron) for over 25 years and in the photograph she is being congratulated, on her return to school, by two Year 6 school council representatives Wil Hockenhull and Jac Jenkins.

“Avril is the smile that greets the children every morning,” assistant headteacher Elen Powell told the Cambrian News. “We are very grateful as a school for all her years of faithful service.

“This award could not be more deserving because she is a fantastic person – every school should have an Avril.”
