A WOMAN who lost her grandfather to Alzheimer’s has thanked everyone who helped raise almost £1,000 for charity last weekend.
Jenn Jones, who organised the town’s fourth Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, has previously told the Cambrian News about the “heartbreaking” experience watching her grandfather, Tom Roberts, suffer the effects of the disease.
Tom sadly passed away in 2015, but Jenn, who works as a personal assistant at RH Environmental Ltd in Aberystwyth, has used her family’s experience as extra motivation to help put an end to Alzhemier’s, which she described as a “dreadful” disease.
The Memory Walk started from Aberystwyth Bandstand at midday on Sunday, 17 September, and participants walked for four miles around the town.
There was also a bouncy castle, children’s karts, face painting, tea, coffee and cake.
Jenn, 27, thanked everyone who helped raise money for and awareness of a cause so close to her heart.
“This is our fourth year running the Aberystwyth Memory Walk,” she said. “I started the walk as a means of raising money for Alzheimer’s Society and awareness of the disease after my own family’s experiences.
“We raised just short of £1,000, which is fantastic. I would like to thank everyone who keeps supporting the Memory Walk in order to fight this cruel disease which robs people of their loved ones.
