WORKMEN at Cemmaes Road’s Network Rail depot have been accused of leaving litter scattered around the area.
Nic Westermann, a local blacksmith in the area, said he had made repeated calls to Network Rail about the problem but, despite people coming out to clean it, the situation was being repeated consistently.
He said: “The crews have been littering on the small side road leading there.
“It’s been going on the last couple of months and we’ve been phoning to complain for about a month.
“There’s whole bags of rubbish just thrown in a hedge.”
Mr Westermann said the access road, which runs parallel to the main road through Cemmaes Road and is near the surgery, should not be blighted with litter, especially by people working in the area.
He said: “It is the residents that I feel particularly sorry for, I only work there.
“Although the impression that my clients get after driving through that mess is not good for my business.”
A spokesperson for Network Rail apologised for the problem and said staff would be spoken to about littering.
They said: “We apologise if our staff have been leaving rubbish in the area.
“All of our workers are briefed on working responsibly in the local community and we have contacted the team working in the area to make them aware of this complaint and make sure the litter is cleared on this occasion and that this does not happen again."
