Please may I, through your letters column, pass on advice to business regarding current phishing scams circulating?
Among them are the ‘World business list’- directory for business, fake invoices, statements and payment requests – they appear legitimate as often Welsh names are used as an email address, created to appear to be from Wales or England.
Also website designers trying to gain access to websites if money transactions can be made via them. Mail Daemon – which normally appears when your email has failed to go through – are sometimes fake and if you click on the details can allow scammers into your computer.
The problem has escalated immensely recently and we all need to be on guard. It is useful to ‘block’ such emails when they are identified as that does eventually stop their attempts.
