Madam,

I recently learned that Mind Aberystwyth is closing its office and structured programmes for the forseeable future.

A friend who is in need of mental health support was told that there will be no further service as the office is moving. They told her they do not know when the services will resume and are not allowed to disclose where they are moving to. I contacted Mind to verify this and received the same information.

It makes me wonder why the secrecy?

This lack of clarity leaves vulnerable people in limbo and somewhat abandoned - not good for their mental health!

Government and charities are supposedly pouring money into mental health.

One would think that one of the biggest charities in the country and often first, hopefully reliable, port of call would be more transparent.

Despite the hype, television adverts and programmes there still seems to be a huge gap between the “talk” of provision and reality. Sadly my friend in Ceredigion has found obstacles and excuses at every turn when struggling to gain help with her condition.
