It is with great sadness and regret we announce the closure of our family-run business we were expecting to reopen in our ninth season, Belle Vue Cafe, Barmouth.

After our lease expired in April, there followed almost six months of trying to renegotiate a secure longer-term lease to re-establish and build a reconfigured style of trading to sit comfortably within the government’s guidelines and our unique trading style – all at great extra cost.

However we were unable to reach a sensible conclusion with enough security for us and the added investment.

There was no other option than to hand in our keys and walk away empty-handed – but not quite, as we have got wonderful memories and met many new faces arriving as customers and leaving as friends, for which we offer our heartfelt sincere and grateful thanks, plus the loyal staff who joined us and became part of our family.

We wish to thank each and every person for loving the place as their own, and wish them well for the future.

Also, thanks to our landlords who were exemplary and for giving us the opportunity to develop a loved and successful business.

Sadly the moral of this episode is despite living in a seaside town one can’t build a business on shifting sands.

Thank you one and all.
