A PARTY to raise money for Penrhyncoch playground will take place on Saturday.
This year, the organisers of Party in the Park, which runs from 3pm until late, hope to raise around £30,000 to buy new equipment for children to play on.
Clare Larke, the chair of the PATRASA fundraising committee, said: “The estimated cost to buy and install the things we would like is £27,000.
“We already have a roundabout, thanks to money raised at our Christmas market, beer festival and a grant from the Welsh Assembly, but we need more money to install it, and to buy a unit with a slide, a bridge and a climbing frame, and to replace the monkey bars. We would like to put the roundabout in place before the end of the year.
"It sits in the ground so it will be accessible to wheelchair users, and the new unit will be for ages 18 months and up. It will be great to make the park more accessible to people with mobility issues and to little ones as there’s not a lot there for them to do at the moment.”
The party starts at 3pm with a BBQ, bar, bouncy slide, tug of war and live music throughout the day, including the Radnor Twurzels as the main entertainment.
“It’s going to be a great day, so please come down, and please bring your purse!” said Clare.
“And, thanks to Aberystwyth Business Club who kindly donated £1,000. We’ll have a marquee so no matter what the weather is like, it will be fine.”
