A PETITION has been launched calling for a crossing to be replaced over a stream in Morfa Bychan.

Five years ago Joe Robinson, of Tremadog, who owns a caravan in Morfa Bychan, launched a campaign to place a crossing over the stream, which is located near a footpath which leads on to the beach.

Mr Robinson was successful in his mission for a crossing, but earlier this year he noticed that the stream had moved and the crossing was now buried under sand.

He said: “I’m not sure what has happened, maybe with the storms over winter the council decided to move the stream but we don’t actually know why.

“The reason why we wanted this crossing in the first place was to stop people from having to wade through ankle deep water to get onto the beach.

“The elderly and disabled have particular difficulties with getting across and only when the tide is very far out you can get round it but that is quite a walk.”

Mr Robinson has now launched a fresh petition to get a crossing built back over the stream. It currently has 300 signatures.
