CAMRA members have unveiled a plaque in the Ship and Castle in Aberystwyth dedicated to former chairman and well-known local real ale campaigner Rhys Jones.

Rhys was a member of CAMRA for many years and was founding chairman of the Bae Ceredigion branch.

The current chairman of Stockport and South Manchester branch, John Clarke, unveiled the plaque and shared his memories about Rhys.

John said: “Rhys was very knowledgeable and passionate about real ale and real cider but, above all, he will be remembered for his voice and his laugh.

“When Rhys died last year, CAMRA lost a great campaigner and many of us lost a great friend.

“The Ship and Castle has been Aberystwyth’s real ale flagship for many years and, as it was Rhys’ favourite local pub up to his death last July, it is a fitting place to raise a pint in his memory.”
