A MACHYNLLETH woman has been named as the new leader of the Wales Green Party.
One of the youngest leaders of any political party in the UK, Alice Hooker Stroud, 31, has been announced as the new leader to take the
party to the Welsh Assembly elections in May 2016.
Hannah Purdner has been elected deputy leader of the party.
The announcement was made at the opening of Wales Green Party
headquarters in Cardiff, on Wednesday, 16 December.
Ms Hooker-Stroud (pictured) said she is confident she can take the party forward.
She said: “This is an exciting time for the Wales Green Party. We enter the Assembly election as a determined and energetic party, we can and we will win seats.”
Outgoing leader Pippa Bartolotti said: “Over the last few years the Wales Green Party has gone from strength to strength and as we build momentum to the assembly elections in May it will carry on doing so. Voters are ready to hear people speak out with real solutions.
“I look forward to working with Alice over the coming months and
supporting her during her leadership.”
