CARDIGAN’S new Morgan Street integrated council service centre will open on 10 July ahead of an official opening in September, the authority has confirmed.

The Morgan Street Integrated Centre has been created through refurbishment of the former Morgan Street office and will now include the town’s library, as well as providing office space for staff from customer services, social care and lifestyle services.

The new centre was planned as the council looked to save money by moving out of Canolfan Teifi in the town.

That means the current Cardigan Library will close on 24 July, and the town’s payments office will close on 7 July. The new Morgan Street centre will then open on 10 July.

Cllr Ray Quant, the Cabinet member responsible for technical services and corporate services, said the change would lead to significant savings for the council and help to protect services in the future in Cardigan.

He said: “Bringing everything under one roof will be of benefit to the people of Cardigan, staff and the council. We look forward to welcoming all to utilise the new facilities.”

An official opening of the new centre will take place in September with council chairman Lynford Thomas performing the honour.
