ABERAID has thanked local people for their “kind-hearted” response in donating household items for the Syrian refugees set to arrive in Aberystwyth before Christmas.

The group, set up to raise awareness of the Syrian refugee crisis and help refugees by collecting donations and funds, has been busy collecting household items to furnish accommodation.

Julie Makin, of Aberaid, said: “Aberaid would like to thank all those who have so generously donated household items, such as crockery, bedding and towels, that will be used to equip the accommodation being made ready for the first refugees arriving in Aberystwyth before Christmas."
