Coed y Bont

The next event will be the November field trip on Saturday, 14 November, which will be a walk at Coed y Bont, led by Liz Snell.

Meet at 9.30am in the car park at Coed y Bont (SN: 737660).

The group will be exploring Coed y Bont, as it is now known, and they should see a good number of winter birds, especially as there are now ponds to enhance the habitat in the area of regenerating woodland.

Bring a flask for the sit-down half-way on the moor beyond the wood (raptor views hopefully) and wear wellies as it will be wet and muddy in places.

The first third of this walk will be on all access paths with plenty of seating available. This makes it suitable for those who may find the group’s usual walks a bit of a struggle.

Everyone is welcome to come and meet like-minded people and hopefully see some really interesting birds.

There will also be a monthly work party on Sunday, 15 November, meeting at the usual time 10.30am at the car park.

The group’s work this month is to start glade clearance, i.e. cutting back or removing some of the birch and willow which have begun to shoot up and grow again near the ponds and generally around the pathways.

They need a few pairs of hands to get started and take control before the trees begin to get established.

They only have a few work party days before this begins to happen next spring, so we really would appreciate your help.
