Madam,

The power cut which lasted nearly five hours on Wednesday took us all by surprise in Harlech.

Looking out over the sea, and seeing Criccieth’s lights still on, I was jealous, ‘til theirs went off too, which filled me with glee. Although seeing that down town Harlech still had lights all the time made me mad!

Well did you find the candles? And did you keep switching on your laptop, even though you knew there was no internet either?

It was a cold and windy night. It was hard to amuse oneself.

I missed a nice cup of tea. And had brilliant thoughts of making one with the water from my hot water bottle, until I gave it up, thinking it would taste rubbery!

It was funny to see what the cat and dog thought of lights out! They thought it was a new game of hide and seek. By 9pm we retired to bed, having had a enough of looking at shadows.

Thank goodness for the invention of electric. We would all be lost without it.

Yours etc, Jean Miles, Harlech.
