A STAGGERING £16,000 has been raised in just a couple of days after the tragic death of a six-month-old baby and her 22-year-old aunt in a horror crash on the A487 near Gellilydan.
The infant’s mother, Sioned Williams, who was driving when the tragic incident occurred, is still in a critical condition in Royal Stoke Hospital.
Baby Mili Wyn Ginniver, from Blaenau Ffestiniog, and Anna Williams, from Penrhyndeudraeth, died after their car was in collision with a lorry last Thursday.
Since the tragic news was announced the local community - and sympathetic well-wishers from further afield - have raised an astonishing £16,000 to help “ease the financial burden” for the heartbroken family.
A candlelit vigil was held in Porthmadog on Monday evening and another is planned for this evening (Thursday) in Penrhyndeudraeth’s Millennium Park at 6.30pm.
