A CHEESE and wine evening organised by Cambrian News managing editor Bev Thomas to raise money for Bronglais Hospital’s Cardiac Unit raised just under £4,000.

Bev organised the event as part of her pledge to raise £5,000 this year for Bronglais Hospital’s cardiac unit,

The £4,000 raised included a donation of £300 on the night by the Padarn Masonic Lodge,

The cheese and wine event at Penrhyncoch Village Hall on 9 June featured a ‘Quaff my Bluff’ game with prizes, along with an auction and a raffle, and more than 90 people attended.

Bev says she was thrilled with the success of the evening and that there would be at least one more event later in the year to support Bronglais cardiologist Dr Donogh McKeogh and him team.

She said: “I pledged to raise £5,000 this year to support the fantastic work of cardiologist Dr Donogh McKeogh and his team, and I am thrilled that I raised just a few pounds short of £4,000 in the first event alone.

“This is thanks to the generosity of sponsors who donated wine and cheese, businesses and individuals who donated auction and raffle prizes, and all those who attended on the night.

“The generosity of those attending, with auction bids and raffle ticket purchases, plus donations from others who couldn’t make the evening, was truly heart-warming.

“The Padarn Lodge of the Masons also kindly donated £300 to the fund from an event they had held, and several members attended on the night to hand over the cheque."
