Madam,

The public ownership of the railways - bring it on!

And here in Dwyfor Meirionnydd we have a great decision to make.

What should we do with the huge revenue stream that visitors generate now for Arriva?

One, we could devote it to West Coast Line improvements. Two, use it for social infrastructure. Three, use it to slash fares - I know how life-saving a day trip, etc, from Birmingham can be. Four, use it to supplement income to the poorest local families, in farming and tourism.

What do the local unions and, indeed, Dwyfor-Meirionnydd political parties think? Any way up, it’s ours, here, not Cardiff’s or Westminster’s.

Yours etc,

Ian MacIntyre, Shelbourne Court, Barmouth.
