Madam,

I am proud of being a Welsh citizen, but also feel strongly European. I was pleased to see that a Plaid Cymru motion in the House of Commons, to allow us to keep our European citizenship after Brexit, was successful.

The right to travel, live and work in any country across Europe is an invaluable right that we would be crazy to throw away voluntarily, so it was therefore encouraging to hear Plaid Cymru argue that in fact it would be illegal for Westminster to take this right away from us against our will.

Given that the House of Commons supported Plaid Cymru’s debate, and given that key players in the European Union such as Guy Verhofstadt are also supportive, if we really did “take back control”, surely Theresa May should now have a real choice on this; our own destiny?

Yours etc,

Cllr Mark Strong, Aberystwyth.
