A landslide has led to the closure of a road in Gwynedd.

Gwynedd Council said the closure of the unclassified road near Plas yn Brithdir would last for some weeks whilst work is carried out to make the area safe.

“Following the extremely wet weather over recent days, a landslide has caused damage to the unclassified road near Plas yn Brithdir, Dolgellau,” a council spokesperson said.

“Due to safety concerns, Gwynedd Council staff have closed the road for the time being.

“Council highway engineers are inspecting the damage and assessing what work will be required before we can re-open the road safely.

“At this stage, we expect the road to be closed for some weeks whilst the required work is completed.”

Diversionary routes are in place whilst the work is being carried out.
