The A497 between Efailnewydd and Pwllheli has reopened after a tree fell across it in Storm Barra.

The road closed yesterday and motorists were asked to follow alternative routes.

Storm Barra continues to sweep across the region. A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: "The driving conditions are poor - we advise all road-users to drive to the conditions and to take care.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said adverse weather conditions had impacted opening times of Covid-19 testing units across North Wales.

"Please keep in mind that testing sites listed on our website might close at short notice," a health board spokesperson said.

"At the time of booking your PCR test on the Welsh Government Portal, you will be advised which test sites are open and closest to you."

Transport for Wales said yesterday (7 December) they would be running an amended timetable on most routes due to anticipated effects of Storm Barra, and urged all passengers to check their travel plans prior to travelling.

They added that “normal service is expected to return on 9 December”.
