SAFETY measures have been demanded on the road linking Next and McDonalds in Aberystwyth after a pedestrian was injured in a collision with a car.
The man was taken to Bronglais Hospital after two ambulances attended the scene at around 4.50pm last Thursday.
The incident has led to a local councillor calling for traffic calming measures on the road which links to the Maes Mawr housing estate to the Parc-y-llyn roundabout.
Cllr Paul James said he had worked with highways officers previously to identify traffic calming measures on the road and would now be discussing further improvements.
He said: “I do have concerns about safety there. I’ve been told by residents that when Next have their sales it can get a bit hectic down there.
“There weren’t double yellow lines there, but there are now to stop people parking on both sides of the road, as that created a corridor.
“The reason for the double yellow lines was to improve visibility for cars coming out of Next and McDonalds”.
