A woman who won a charity bake-off at work donated £132 to the RNLI after a family member who fell ill at Borth in July was helped by lifeguards and coastguards.

Sarah Horton and colleagues at the Museums and Archives division of the Welsh Assembly Government held the bake-off, with the winner, Sarah, choosing to donate the funds to thank the RNLI Lifeguards and local HM Coastguard team.

Sarah chose the RNLI in Borth in recognition of the fantastic work done by two of the charity’s lifeguards in helping a family member who had suffered a seizure on the cliffs by the Borth War Memorial monument in July.

The local HM Coastguard team was called out to assist the casualty and two RNLI lifeguards, Gareth Lathwood and Jack Rees, also responded, bringing a first aid kit before the casualty was able to be airlifted by helicopter to Bronglais Hospital.

Sarah reported that the family member is now recovering well.
