SLIMMERS in Pwllheli have raised almost £2,000 for charity by donating clothes that are now too big for them.
Kristy Roberts, who runs Pwllheli Slimming World classes, said the group had managed to raise a staggering £1,875 for Cancer Research UK as part of the national ‘The Big Clothes Throw’ campaign, where members are asked to donate clothes they have slimmed out of.
The group managed to donate 75 bags — each with a value of £25 — within the space of just two weeks.
Last year, Slimming World managed to raise more than £2m through donations for Cancer Research UK.
Kristy added: “One of our lucky members also found a golden bag. By getting this she will be put in a draw and be in with a chance to win a luxury trip to London to spend the day with Peter Andre. We have everything crossed for her.”
Pwllheli Slimming World is held at Pwllheli Rugby Club on Wednesdays (8am, 10am, and 7pm), Fridays (10am), and Saturdays (8am and 10am).
