A “MUCH-LOVED” Bont woman who sadly passed away earlier this month was given a spectacular send-off.

Jennifer Ries, of Nant Wen, Ystrad Meurig, near Pontrhydfendigaid, passed away peacefully aged 71 at Plas Cwmcynfelin Care Home, Clarach, on Thursday, 4 May.

Friends and family have described their beloved ‘Jenny’ as a “loyal and trustworthy” woman who was a huge lover of animals and the countryside.

And a spectacular funeral was held at Strata Florida Abbey on Wednesday, 17 May, where Jenny arrived in a horse-drawn glass hearse carriage after setting off from Pontrhydfendigaid.

Dennis Donnarumma told the Cambrian News: “The funeral was a very special occasion for Jenny and she certainly went in style.

“Jenny was much-loved by Bont folks, especially for her love of animals and the countryside. A resident of Bont for 30 years, Jenny was hard-working, loyal and trustworthy, and always willing to help others.

“Horses were especially dear to her, so having John Fletcher of Gentle Giants, from Cardigan, arrange a glass hearse carriage, which was brought up from Swansea, to take Jenny on her last journey through Pontrhydfendigaid village to the historical Strata Florida Abbey, was so special.

“Words cannot express our gratitude and thanks for making such an emotional day so memorable for everyone who knew Jenny.”

Jenny was a devoted wife of the late Ken, and will be missed by her family and friends, and her beloved dogs – Pansy and Pixie.

Donations in memory of Jenny will be gratefully accepted by the Dog’s Trust and/or Iorwerth Ward, Bronglais Hospital, c/o D J Evans Funeral Directors, Penrhyncoch, Aberystwyth.
