ALMOST 700 homes in Ceredigion were left without power in the early hours of this morning and there have been reports of localised flooding as a result of Storm Frank.
Western Power Distribution said the majority of the 669 properties affected in Tregaron had been reconnected within an hour of being cut off at 3.53am this morning, although around 40 had to wait until 10am for their electric to be reinstated.
While energy has returned to homes in Tregaron, WPD added that homes in Pontrhydefendigaid were continuing to suffer with intermittent power cuts as engineers work to pinpoint the fault in overhead power lines.
A WPD spokesperson said: “The Pontrhydfendigaid fault has been going on for some time — it started yesterday [Tuesday] and is still doing it today.
“People have experienced dips in electricity, causing lights to flicker.
“It is an overhead line fault; there is something wrong on the line and engineers haven’t been able to pinpoint it.
“They are carrying out inspection work and when they find it, full electricity will be reinstated.”
There have also been reports of intermittent electricity in Llanrhystud, as well as minor flooding at CK’s supermarket in Waunfawr, Castle Terrace, South Marine Terrace in Aberystwyth.
