Barmouth residents got their skates on in the run-up to Christmas thanks to the town council who organised a weekend of ice skating.

A skating rink was erected on one of the town’s car parks and drew crowds from across the area.

The rink was organised at a cost of £8,000, paid for by the town council and was set up to coincide with the annual Christmas fair.

Speaking after the event, Cllr Katie Price said: “Barmouth Town Council wish to thank all of the volunteers who made the weekend a success.

“Many people from our community and beyond enjoyed the skating - a good time was had by all! We had excellent weather and a great turn out. We’re already looking forward to next year!”
