Madam,

The Aberystwyth Rotary Club will be holding a collection again this year to raise funds for charities which serve our local community, and the support of Cambrian News readers will be much appreciated. The first collection takes place this week at Morrison’s (starting Thursday, 3rd December), and we shall be out collecting again at Owain Glyn Dwr Square over the weekend before Christmas (19, 21, 22 December).

Our principal charity this year is the new ‘Hospice at Home’ which provides essential home care support in the locality, and we shall also be supporting the Aberystwyth area Young Carers, ‘Blood Bikes’ which organises a volunteer service to transport blood and plasma to meet emergency needs, and the local Parkinsons Society. We also hope to raise sufficient funds to make donations to the Penparcau Senior Citizens Club, Cylch Meithrin Llanfarian (play group), and to sup-port the youth activities of the Aberystwyth Silver Band.

I realise that coming face to face with collectors every time one is out shopping can be a bit daunting, but we hope that you will give generously to the Rotary collection in the knowledge that every penny raised will go to local charities that provide a valuable and important service to the community of north Ceredigion. Many thanks to you in advance.

Yours etc, Hywel Wyn Jones,
