CEREDIGION residents can once again take pride in the brilliant hygiene standards in the county’s public conveniences.

The county council’s award-winning cleaning team claimed victory in several categories during the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards 2015.

The council has been entering this competition since 1996 and has been very successful again this year.

In total, Ceredigion won 22 platinum awards and eight gold awards for its individual premises which is an improvement on last year’s haul of awards.

The council came first in many national award categories across Wales, including In House Cleaning Team entry; Local Authority entries; Eco Friendly Toilets; Changing Places Toilet entries and Toilets in Education.

The council also won several UK trophies, including: Public Toilet entries; Hygiene Room entries; Education sector and Healthcare sector.

The council’s cleaning team was judged to be the best of its type in Wales in 14 national categories, including ones for leisure centres, primary schools, day centres and libraries.

Jasmine Wilson, Cleaning Services manager for Ceredigion said: “It is gratifying to note that our work and standards are recognised to be the best in the UK across so many categories, and that local communities, school pupils, staff and visitors are able to avail themselves of an excellent service that will enhance their comfort during their travels, school or working day, or when they visit various public buildings within Ceredigion.”
