Madam,

May we please use your letters page to say a sincere, heartfelt thanks to two lads who stopped to help us on Tuesday, 6 March?

We were on our way to Tywyn to enable me to keep an appointment. We had just reached the main road, off the Talyllyn turn-off, and knew we were in serious trouble. We knew we had a flat tyre, but hoped we could reach a garage. That was not possible, so for safety’s sake we stopped at a little after 2pm.

Immediately the two lads behind us stopped their vehicle to help us. They could see our tyre was in a perilous state and said they would change it straight away.

One lad opened the car door to reassure me, telling me that the job would soon be done, which it was.

We rather thought their van carried the logo 'Open Reach' or 'Out-Reach', something like that.

My husband and I are both over 80 and I need a wheel-chair and consequently have a Blue Badge.

The lads worked diligently and cheerfully. We are grateful beyond simple words that they, on seeing our plight, gave giving skilled, prompt, dexterous help. Indeed unstinting thanks to them both.

Yours etc,

Jill Baxter, Abergynolwyn.
